The Apulia wine region, Italian Puglia, is located in the far south of Italy. It forms the heel of the boot on the map. With over 100,000 hectares of vineyards, it is one of the largest wine regions in Italy. Once upon a time, the dark-colored wines with a lot of alcohol were used to give lean wines more color and body during crop failures in Italy, but also elsewhere in Europe. For several decades now, Apulia has been a 'hot' item among wine lovers. EU subsidies and new insights and techniques have ensured that good to very good wines can indeed be made, both in white and red. The landscape is rather flat and the temperature can be extremely high here. The coolness comes from the Mediterranean and Ionian sea. The production mainly concerns red wines. characterful wines of good to very good quality.
