The May-Weissheimer family has been involved in viticulture for 500 years. In 1737, the ancestors bought the medieval stone mill and already at that time they aspired to develop quality wines. It was Johann Weissheimer who built the cellars in 1823 and thus acquired the best vineyards around Osthofen. He knew what he was doing and his motto was “Guter Wein braucht guten Boden”. This is the basis of success. Now in the 21st century, Weingut Steinmühle can be summed up with words such as authenticity, manual labour, origin and sustainability. Since 2009, Axel May is already the 11th generation responsible for this unique company. This young winemaker is very passionate, but also doing a good job. They have 6 luxurious rooms, with a 9.5 on Booking.com, this is an asset to Osthofen. With the now 15, So he has his hands full with 5 hectares. Mineral aroma with notes of citrus and stone fruit and some green bacon and celery. Firm, sharp and juicy fruit, yeasty, herbaceous and clear mineral notes, lively acidity and plenty of grip, persistent on the palate, has tension, still young, some depth, citrus zest in the background, some quince, with again a tighter, acidic, juicy and mineral finish.
